English Week 2026, held from March 11–16, centered around the theme “Let’s make life sport-tacular!” This theme was chosen to celebrate our students’ sportsmanship, integrity, and creativity both on and off the field.

Throughout the week, students across different forms engaged in specialized projects. S1 students hosted a “Sports Uniform Fashion Show” at the Tesseract. They showcased eco-friendly uniforms designed during English lessons, incorporating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to create functional and environmentally friendly sportswear. S2 students used AI tools to create original comic strips featuring famous female athletes. The highlight was an award show where students voted for the most impressive comic strips. Lastly, S3 students stepped into the role of entrepreneurs to pitch an original sport for an upcoming Special Sports Day. They presented their business plan to a panel of “sharks” at lunch, competing for the title of most innovative concept.

The excitement extended to the whole school with a Sports Idioms Trivia game in the hall. By following clues posted around the covered playground all week, students discovered the sporting origins of common English phrases. Ultimately, English Week 2026 was a “sport-tacular” success!

Celebrating Excellence: The First Term Prize Presentation Ceremony

The True Light School of Hong Kong held its First Term Prize Presentation Ceremony on 2 March. The ceremony commenced with a solemn flag-hoisting, setting a dignified tone for a day dedicated to honoring our students’ hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence. Throughout the event, we proudly celebrated the diverse talents and remarkable achievements of our students across academic, artistic, and sporting arenas.

We were particularly delighted to welcome back our 2025 S6 graduates, who took the stage to receive scholarships in recognition of their outstanding performance in the 2025 HKDSE. Following the presentation of the awards, we had the privilege of hearing an inspiring sharing from one of our distinguished 2025 alumnae, Edith Leung. Currently pursuing a degree in Psychology at The University of Hong Kong, Edith shared the personal motivations behind her choice of study. She spoke passionately about her aspirations, expressing a deep commitment to using her future professional knowledge to give back and contribute meaningfully to society.

We take immense pride in the accomplishments of our TrueLighters. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the award winners for your ongoing progress and well-earned success!

To all our students: let the achievements celebrated today be a source of inspiration. Continue to try your absolute best, stay dedicated to your passions, and never be afraid to push your boundaries. Remember that every great achievement begins with a single step of effort. Keep striving, and one day, you will be the one standing on that stage to receive your own award!

We concluded a successful Math and Science Week from January 28 to February 3, 2026, marked by vibrant energy and a shared enthusiasm for exploration.

The science activities featured the “Science Bonanza,” which included hands-on activities that encouraged our students to engage with scientific concepts beyond the classroom. The excitement culminated in the “Inter-Class Paper Plane Competition,” where students applied principles of physics and design to create high-flying gliders. Additionally, the week-long “Brainy Bites Challenge” tested our students’ science knowledge with a continuous series of interesting questions.

Equally exciting were our Mathematics activities, which put our students’ logic, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills to the test. The week began with a rigorous “Math Question of the Month,” but the true centerpieces were the interactive Math Game Booths held on January 30 and February 2. The venue was buzzing as students gathered around tables to tackle tricky puzzle games like Garam and Counting Sheep.

Throughout the week, students expressed their enjoyment and curiosity, fully immersing themselves in each activity. We were especially delighted to welcome students from our primary school section to visit us! It was incredibly rewarding to watch our secondary students step up as mentors, patiently guiding their younger peers through the challenges and fostering a wonderful sense of community and a shared love for mathematics and science across our school campuses.

On December 20, our students enjoyed a meaningful cultural exchange with their buddies from Muroto High School, Japan. Together, they explored the natural beauty and heritage of Lai Chi Wo and Ap Chau, strengthening the bonds of international friendship.

Discovering the Heritage of Lai Chi Wo

The day began at Lai Chi Wo, a historic village that is over 300 years old. It is one of Hong Kong’s most well-preserved Hakka settlements and is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark. The village is famous for its traditional tiled-roof houses and rich biodiversity.

Our students and their Japanese buddies walked through the village together to learn about the history of the local community. Afterward, everyone sat down to enjoy a traditional Hakka feast. Sharing this delicious meal was a highlight of the day, as it gave the students a chance to chat, laugh, and learn about each other’s cultures in a relaxed way.

Protecting Our Environment at Ap Chau

The students then traveled to Ap Chau, an island known for its unique red rock formations. Beyond its beauty, the island provided a chance for our students to give back to nature.

With a shared goal of protecting the ocean, the students spent the afternoon cleaning the shore. By working side-by-side to remove plastic and debris, they made a meaningful impact on the environment. This activity showed that even with a language barrier, we can all work together for a better world.

A Strong International Friendship

It was a joy to see such a strong international friendship being established between our school and Muroto High School. We are proud of our students for being such kind hosts and for showing great care for both their guests and the environment.

We look forward to more opportunities to connect with our friends from Japan in the future!

On the afternoon of 6 December, our school hall was filled with an air of solemn pride as we gathered for the Red Cross Youth Unit 42 Enrollment Ceremony. This event marks a significant milestone in the lives of our students—it is not merely a formality, but a rite of passage in which our members publicly dedicate themselves to the humanitarian values of the Red Cross.

Witnessed by distinguished guests and their parents, our members donned their uniforms with dignity. The ceremony highlighted the culmination of months of training, covering everything from discipline and drill to essential first aid skills. More importantly, it solidified the commitment to protecting human life and dignity.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ms. Kitty To, District Officer of Wan Chai District, for officiating our Enrollment Ceremony. Her presence and guidance lent great meaning to this milestone and reinforced the importance of service to the community.

Following the formal enrollment ceremony, the atmosphere shifted from solemnity to creative expression. The students performed a drama designed to articulate the true meaning of joining the Red Cross. The members illustrated that the Red Cross spirit is about empathy, readiness, and the human connection formed when helping those in need. The drama served as a powerful reminder that behind every badge lies a compassionate heart ready to serve.

From November 29 to 30, 2025, our school successfully co-hosted the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Sister Schools Exchange and Study Tour with the China National Institute of Education Sciences: Liwan Experimental School (NIES; LWES) (中國教育科學研究院荔灣實驗學校(中科荔實)) in Guangzhou. This initiative aimed to foster educational exchange and collaboration in education between Guangdong and Hong Kong.

During the program, students and teachers from both schools commenced with ice-breaking activities and a campus tour at NIES; LWES to enhance mutual understanding. Student representatives from both schools showcased their STEAM projects, fostering meaningful academic exchange and establishing a strong foundation for future collaboration in STEAM education.  

Subsequently, students from Guangzhou and Hong Kong were mixed into groups and, guided by STEAM education principles under teacher supervision, collaboratively designed a Yongqing Fang exploration guide. Through field research, students completed cultural landmark tasks including Bruce Lee’s Ancestral Home, the arcaded buildings along Enning Road, and the Cantonese Opera Art Museum, gaining in-depth knowledge of Guangzhou’s history and culture. Throughout this process, students actively applied interdisciplinary knowledge in mathematics, arts, and information technology, significantly enhancing their problem-solving skills while forging strong friendships through teamwork.

On November 30th, the delegation visited the GAC MOTOR Technology Museum in Nansha and the Guangdong Science Centre. Students engaged in hands-on study sessions focusing on new energy vehicle technology, space and deep-sea exploration technologies, and various science topics. This study tour not only strengthened ties between the sister schools but also elevated students’ integrated STEAM capabilities through experiential learning and interactive exchanges. It further deepened their understanding and appreciation of Lingnan culture, laying a solid foundation for future in-depth collaboration between the two institutions.

In order to enhance students’ interest in human geography and develop their fieldwork skills, the Geography Panel has arranged for our S1 Geography students to conduct a fieldwork investigation into the living environment of Tai Hang.

The objectives of the fieldwork are to introduce the key elements and procedures of enquiry-based field study, enrich students’ understanding of the area surrounding the school from a geographical perspective, and enable them to identify the major land uses and evaluate the quality of the living environment.

This practical investigation provides students with valuable hands-on experience, allowing them to apply geographical concepts to their local community.
