SUMMARY:Nurturing Future Christian Leaders
DESCRIPTION:“If you have love for one another\, then everyone will know that you are my disciples.” (John 13:35) \nLove is what our student Christian leaders aim to preach and live out in True Light. Almost 20 student leaders of the Student Christian Fellowship came together to immerse in the love of God and the love of each other in a day of retreat and training on 4 August 2022\, led by the coaches from the Fellowship of Evangelical Students (FES).  Students were able to find tranquility with a quiet time with God as well as solidarity with fun time with each other. \n“This retreat and training is a very enjoyable and empowering experience for us. Looking back at our ups and downs together as a team\, our bond has been growing stronger every day like a family\, filled with love and empathy. I am amazed by our transformation and growth the Lord has brought us. The training also opened my eyes on what it takes to become a leader\, how to embrace our gifts from God and use them wisely\,” says Grace Tsang of S4.

SUMMARY:Joint-School Literature Workshop
DESCRIPTION:To enhance students’ skills in appreciating literature\, the English department organized a Joint-School Literature Workshop with Ying Wa College on 29 July 2022. \nThe workshop was divided into two sessions. In the first session\, our S2 students collaborated with students from Ying Wa to perform a duologue using sand painting and voice acting based on the book “A Monster Calls”. \nIn the second session\, the Ying Wa boys and our S3 girls did a roundtable discussion in the format of debate with reference to the topics aroused in the book “Bridge to Terabithia”. \nIt was a precious occasion for students to take what they learnt in the \nLiterature lessons beyond the classroom and develop a deeper understanding of literature.

SUMMARY:Our Speech Day 2022
DESCRIPTION:Despite the resurgence of the pandemic\, the Speech Day and the Passing-on-the-light Ceremony were held on 25 June with great success\, for which we are extremely grateful. On this special day\, members of the Board of Trustees\, teachers\, parents and students gathered at the school hall to commemorate the achievements of this year’s graduates. \nWe are delighted to have invited Ms. Lee Shui Wai\, Anthea as the guest of honour for the ceremony. She is the Chief Executive of The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention\, Hong Kong\, as well as an alumna of True Light. In her address\, she talked about how her alma mater nurtured her desire to serve the underprivileged. She shared with us stories of her upbringing in a grassroot family and her work in an NGO\, reminding us that to give is better than to take. She also brought up her experience of helping her son explore different career pathways and encouraged parents to guide and support their children instead of restricting or controlling their choices. Later\, she presented graduation certificates to our S6 graduates. \nPrincipal Hui delivered a speech reviewing our school’s major concern\, ‘Try all-IN\, SET to shine’\, as well as a wide variety of activities held during the school year. She also congratulated this year’s graduates for completing their secondary education despite the myriad of hardships they encountered\, and doing so humbly\, faithfully and patiently. \nLam Ching Chi and Tze Ying Lam gave votes of thanks on behalf of this year’s graduates. In their speeches\, they recounted memories created in their secondary school years\, made unique by the disruption of the pandemic. They also expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards True Light\, as well as their teachers\, parents and fellow graduates. Lam Ching Chi recalled the changes and constants she encountered throughout her secondary school life\, while Tze Ying Lam reflected on the multiple meanings of the word ‘graduation’. \nThe Passing-on-the-light ceremony\, a long-standing tradition of our school\, was then held. The light delivering and light receiving were carried out by S5 and S6 students. S6 graduate representative Yeung Hiu Lam expressed her hope for her S5 sisters to be like the emblem of their house\, the sunflower. She encouraged them to keep on stretching towards the light\, and spread love\, hope and warmth through their light. S5 representative Lee Abbie Norah praised her S6 sisters for marching on during such a difficult time\, and promised to perpetuate the True Light Spirit\, passing the light on and on. \nThanks to the Lord’s blessings\, the Speech Day was held successfully on campus\, serving as the perfect conclusion to our graduates’ secondary school years at True Light. We sincerely wish our graduates good luck as they step into a new chapter in their lives. \n2021/22 6D Lam Ching Chi

SUMMARY:English Week 2022
DESCRIPTION:English Week 2022 \nThe theme of this year’s English Week is “A Musical Fair”. During the period of  May 26-31\, S1-S3 students went to the Tesseract to play 4 rounds of different games related to music. \nOne of the games was The Sound of Silence; a part of a song/video was played until it was paused where students had to guess the lyrics of the next line. While listening to the song\, students couldn’t resist singing along to the songs being played. The fastest group to stand up at the same time was the group that got to earn a point by saying (or singing) the answer. \nAnother game that was played was Hearsay Lyrics; songs with commonly misheard lyrics were played for students to listen and guess what the incorrect word should be. Some students and teachers were amused by the fact that they’ve been singing the wrong lyrics all along before this game. \nAt the end of these musical activities\, students had to complete a Song Review on Google Form. Different levels had to listen to one assigned song in order to complete the task. Students were asked to note down the genre and infer the message of the song. Staying true to our habit of making connections\, they also had to read a few lines from the songs and make connections to their daily life with some elaboration. \nOn the final day of English Week\, students from all levels had the opportunity to enjoy an extension of the games in the School Hall. None of the songs played in the Tesseract were repeated so all students had a fair shot at winning a prize in every round.

SUMMARY:Daemun III Model United Nations (MUN) Conference
DESCRIPTION:S2-S4 Daemun III Model United Nations (MUN) Conference \nThe world we live in is a global village and no age is too young to prepare for the future. Twelve of our S2 to S4 students participated in the Daemun III MUN Conference via zoom on May 14. The MUN conference was a simulation of an actual United Nations Conference in which students advanced the interests of their assigned nation while also responding to and compromising with fellow delegates. Students immersed themselves in global issues through researching\, public speaking\, debating and writing as a representative of their assigned nation. At the same time\, students can utilize and maximize important skills such as critical reasoning\, team work\, leadership and negotiation. \nTo prepare for the MUN conference\, students completed a 12-week course hosted by The Kelly Yang Project. Students learnt about current events\, international relations and foreign policies. They were taught how to perfect research\, improve their public speaking\, debating and writing skills by their experienced KYP instructor\, Miss Alana. \nThe MUN course and conference was truly a unique experience for our twelve students because they were taught invaluable real-life skills that are essential to life in and outside of school. \nTestimonies \n2B Jessica Cheng (2) \nMy MUN experience was very enjoyable. I got to learn about different fascinating topics like coral bleaching and endangered animals that I normally wouldn’t have been interested in if it weren’t for the course. I loved how I got to have various group discussions\, presentations and debates as they helped improve my English public speaking skills. I would love to continue having all my fellow classmates by my side in future MUN classes. \n  \n2B Hannah Deng (5) \nThe whole experience has been effective in developing my speech skills because it helped build my confidence when I am presenting ideas. I also learnt a lot about the United Nations\, such as how to write a resolution and how to do an opening speech. As a result\, I have become more interested in international issues. \n2B Bernice Ng (23) \nThe course was really fun and sparked many new ideas that I have never thought of in my mind. During the conference\, I was asking a POI (Point of Inquiry) but I wasn’t really prepared\, so I got stuck. Miss Alana suggested some points that I could improve on and lastly\, I completed it successfully. I hope that I can perform better in impromptu speeches and ask POIs more smoothly. \n2B Cherine Yip (30) \nThe topics we addressed in class are similar to the global events we are encountering in the world now. Through the lessons\, not only did we receive information\, but we stepped out of the classroom and put what we had learnt into practice. In the Daemun Conference\, we had heated debates while looking at measures to reduce dependency on Russian fossil fuels. The connection between us and the current events reminded me that we\, as world citizens\, have the responsibility to keep an eye on the trending topics of the world. \n  \n  \n2B Bethany Zee (32) \nAlthough I was kind of stressed about making speeches at first at the Daemun Conference\, I grew less nervous and wrote better resolutions by the end. It gave me a new perspective and I was glad to meet a bunch of new friends. \n2C Shanna Chan (4) \nThe Daemun MUN Conference allowed me to make friends from around the globe and granted me more confidence in public speaking. The most memorable part of the conference would be acting as a main speaker and answering to POIs. I felt important and I was able to rise to the occasion as best as I could. \n2C Annabel Li (22) \nThe entire conference left a strong impression in my mind\, especially when I presented my first POI. I remember shaking and struggling to not fall off the chair\, trying my best to not stutter and act like I am a boss lady. You know what they say\, practice makes perfect so after trying it once\, I was no longer nervous and I even gave more POIs as the conference went on. \n2C Emily Wan (31) \nThe classes boosted my self-confidence and my self-esteem\, which directly improved the way I look at myself. The experience of MUN not only taught me a lot of skills\, but it has also helped me gain more self-confidence. The experience was also very satisfying and enjoyable\, as the instruction and topics were very fun and interesting. \n3C Hazel Chan (1) \nBefore joining\, I was terrified to speak in front of others since I am an introverted and shy person. It’s usually very nerve-wracking for me to give speeches. But MUN provided many practices for me so I gained confidence and I am no longer afraid. I looked forward to the next class after each class ended and the course has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. \n3C Joanne Hung (10) \nThe MUN experience has no doubt given me an adrenaline rush. It was a valuable and pleasurable experience. I was also quite surprised by other delegates and even my own performance because I didn’t expect all of us to do so well. I believe the most charming thing about MUN is that it can always motivate and help us explore our own individual potential. \n4D Flora Chan (1) \nThe MUN classes and the Daemun Conference were so marvelous that I would undoubtedly like to join again. If I had to do it again\, I would be more active and be slightly more aggressive during POIs. \n4D Nicole Lam (15) \nThe most memorable moment from the conference was the debating period when delegates expressed their opinions and made rebuttals. I liked collaborating with my classmates during class and listening to other delegates’ speeches during the conference. I was able to look at different topics with new perspectives so I can come up with new ideas and solutions.

SUMMARY:Know God and Make Him Known – “Wellcation” Highlights
DESCRIPTION:The fifth wave of Covid-19 has brought us a special holiday which gave us the opportunity not just to live well and learn\, but also to know God and make Him known. Group games\, Bible study and leadership training were held online to make the most out of the “Wellcation”. \nApril Fools’ Escape Game\nOver 50 S1 students had so much fun with this escape game led by the student fellowship committee members on April Fools’ Day. The game was designed to reflect on self-esteem and appreciate oneself in God’s eyes. Students had a great time sharing deep feelings after the game and encountered God in prayer. \nBrunch Club – Online Bible Study\nWhat does the Bible say about food? The Brunch Club is a group of hungry students who are eager to learn about Bible stories related to food or drinks. During the holiday we studied three stories from the Gospel of John closely and were filled up with the inspiring word of God. \nCampus Transformer – Retreat & Training\nWe are very grateful for our student leaders who have been serving the Lord full of devotion. A retreat and training session was held online for these faithful servants to get recharged and equipped for the service of the Lord.

SUMMARY:Girl Guides Bath Bomb Making Activity
DESCRIPTION:3C21 Mok Cheuk KiReflection on Girl Guides Bath Bomb Making Activity \nI have always been clumsy when it comes to making handicrafts\, so I first found this soap making activity quite challenging. One of the obstacles was that I lost one of the key ingredients: oil\, which solidifies the mixture. I was very nervous at that time. The teachers told me to use other liquids such as water and toner for skin instead. Thanks to their clear explanation and instructions\, I was able to follow the steps and finally made 6 bath bombs. Although the whole process was done on Zoom\, I think this was a great experience and I hope that we can have more chances to make handicrafts in our girl guides meetings.

SUMMARY:150th School Anniversary Joint-School Sports Day
DESCRIPTION:It is truly a blessing that our school could resume our Annual Sports Day after last year’s cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To celebrate TL’s 150th anniversary\, a Joint-School Sports Day co-organized by the four True Light schools was held\, allowing students from all four schools to participate in a friendly competition on the same sports ground. Not only did it provide participants a great opportunity  to learn from the athletes\, but it also united the four schools to commemorate this special year and give thanks to God for guiding TL along  the 150-year voyage.  \nDespite the enforcement of the pandemic safety and social-distancing precautions\, the masks on the students’ faces did not stop them from cheering for their schoolmates as loudly as they could\, nor could they smother the radiating joy and enthusiasm of our girls. Through this remarkable event\, the passion and the spirit of True Light girls were on full display. We look forward to more events of such to be held in the near future. \nBy 4D WONG YAN TO \nThe 150th School Anniversary Joint-School Sports Day was successfully held on 17 December at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground.  \nCongratulations to the following students: \n\n\n\n\n\nEvent\nResults\nClass\nClass no.\nName\n\n\n\n\n  \n100MH \n\n\n1st Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n1B \n\n\n8 \n\n\nCHEUK SHU LI \n\n\n\n  \n100MH \n\n\n2nd Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n2A \n\n\n18 \n\n\nPAU PAK QIU \n\n\n\n  \n100M \n\n\nChampion (Junior) \n\n\n2A \n\n\n2 \n\n\nCHAN HIU MAN \n\n\n\n  \n100M \n\n\n2nd Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n1A \n\n\n25 \n\n\nWONG SO CHING JOYCE \n\n\n\n  \n200M \n\n\n1st Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n2A \n\n\n2 \n\n\nCHAN HIU MAN \n\n\n\n  \n200M \n\n\n2nd Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n1B \n\n\n8 \n\n\nCHEUK SHU LI \n\n\n\n  \n200M \n\n\n3rd Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n2C \n\n\n3 \n\n\nCHAN HO CHING MONA \n\n\n\n  \n800M \n\n\n1st Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n2B \n\n\n12 \n\n\nLAU KAR KEI \n\n\n\n  \n800M \n\n\n2nd Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n3B \n\n\n18 \n\n\nLOUIE HO CHING \n\n\n\n  \n1500M \n\n\n2nd Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n3D \n\n\n13 \n\n\nLEUNG YAT SUM \n\n\n\n  \nDiscus \n\n\nChampion (Junior) \n\n\n1B \n\n\n17 \n\n\nLEUNG HIU SUET \n\n\n\n\nHigh Jump \n\n\nChampion (Junior) \n\n\n1A \n\n\n23 \n\n\nWONG ATHENA \n\n\n\n  \nLong Jump \n\n\nChampion (Junior) \n\n\n1A \n\n\n25 \n\n\nWONG SO CHING JOYCE \n\n\n\n  \nLong Jump \n\n\n2nd Runner-up (Junior) \n\n\n1A \n\n\n23 \n\n\nWONG ATHENA \n\n\n\n  \n100MH \n\n\nChampion (Senior) \n\n\n4C \n\n\n1 \n\n\nAU HOI YING \n\n\n\n  \n100MH \n\n\n1st Runner-up (Senior) \n\n\n3C \n\n\n27 \n\n\nWONG INGRID WIE SANG \n\n\n\n  \n100M \n\n\nChampion (Senior) \n\n\n6D \n\n\n13 \n\n\nLEE HANNAH \n\n\n\n  \n200M \n\n\n2nd Runner-up (Senior) \n\n\n5D \n\n\n7 \n\n\nCHEUNG WING YAN \n\n\n\n  \n400M \n\n\nChampion (Senior) \n\n\n6D \n\n\n13 \n\n\nLEE HANNAH \n\n\n\n  \n400M \n\n\n2nd Runner-up (Senior) \n\n\n6B \n\n\n11 \n\n\nNGAI WING HUEN \n\n\n\n  \n1500M \n\n\n3rd Runner-up (Senior) \n\n\n5D \n\n\n10 \n\n\nFUNG WAI KI \n\n\n\n  \nDiscus \n\n\n3rd Runner-up (Senior) \n\n\n5B \n\n\n1 \n\n\nCHAN HEI YAN \n\n\n\n  \nHigh Jump \n\n\nChampion (Senior) \n\n\n4C \n\n\n2 \n\n\nCHAN TSZ YAU \n\n\n\n  \nHigh Jump \n\n\n3rd Runner-up (Senior) \n\n\n5C \n\n\n4 \n\n\nCHAU CHEUK YING

SUMMARY:On-line exchange program @ True Light Middle School & RDFZ XISHAN SCHOOL
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased and honoured to have organized an online exchange activity with Beijing RDFZ Xishan School. The event was completed with inspiring and engaging exchanges between the students from both schools. Students shared about their school life and common leisure activities\, followed by a quality Q&A session which broadened the mutual understanding. Students find the activity insightful and enjoyable. It is hoped that more similar events can be organized in the future to promote exchanges between students of both schools. \nFollowings are reflections of some of the participating students: \nAt first \, I think they will mainly focus on academic pursuits as they are senior form students with upcoming public exams. However\, it impresses me a lot that they still play sports like football and other leisure activities\, but not just keep studying in their dorm. I am able to understand their lifestyles better and it is quite interesting! Also\, they could speak English fluently which is great. (S2\, Christy Fung) \nAfter the Xishan exchange\, I have discovered that the students in Xishan are actually busier than us. I have realised that it is important to have good time management and explore our own habits in order to maintain a well-balanced life. (S2\, Jade Lau) \nIn this exchange program\, we’ve got a chance to know more about what other schools’ daily learning is like. I’ve also found that they have very clear goals and future directions which I think it’s very important and what I should think about. I treasure this experience a lot and I’m very glad that I can participate in the program. (S2 Natalie Kwong)

SUMMARY:Girl Guides Christmas Party
DESCRIPTION:2B30 Yip Cheuk Kiu \nReflection on Girl Guides Christmas Party \nTime flies since we’ve had numerous fun-filled gatherings of the 97th Girl Guides. My first year in this delightful family wrapped up with our long-awaited Christmas celebration in the early December of 2021. \nOur celebration began with a wide variety of thrilling games designed and hosted by our student committee. We started off with a warm-up game which tested our balance and stamina by standing on one leg while forming a triangle with both hands put on the top of our heads. When we saw each other posing as a funny-looking Christmas tree\, all of us had a broad smile. During the second half of the required 5 minutes\, some of us started to lose our balance and wobbled. The other teammates instantly showed their support by giving us warm smiles and lovely winks. Under our strong team spirit and close bonding\, the whole 97th Girl Guides passed the first task hand in hand. \nOur laughter did not stop at this bright moment. We carried on with our second highlight\, a friendly competition which aimed to burst the opposite team’s balloons that were tied with their ankles while keeping ours safe. As the timer rang\, the whole room was filled with running tread at a glance\, no matter chasing or escaping\, mingling with a loud bang from the bursts of balloons. It was a pity that my balloon bursted in a flash. Nonetheless\, I was not out of the competition as our patrol agreed with a tactic that those teammates whose balloons bursted could stay in the game and protect the rest of our team’s balloons. After 15 minutes of chasing and fleeing\, it came to the most awaited part of announcing the competition’s results. Though we didn’t win the game\, we still felt satisfied for our endeavours in racking our brains to think of strategies\, running at the fastest speed during the friendly competition\, and the strengthened companionship as a result. \nFinally\, we came to our last activity in the game session. Each patrol needed to assign three representatives to participate in it and I became one of them with pleasure. We fastened a tissue box containing five Ping-Pong balls to our belt and jumped up and down with great effort\, in order to shake them out as fast as we could. When I thought that I had already finished the task and began to remove the tissue box from my belt\, I discovered that there was still a ball hidden in the corner of the box. I looked at my patrol and they cheered harder and louder. The other two of my teammates who were still busy struggling with the balls gave me a quick\, approving wink as well. We soon returned to our patrol under our fellow teammates’ claps and cheers. Through this little game\, the spirit of teamwork and mutual cooperation of the 97th Girl Guides were fully on display! \n“Christmas is a time to love”\, not only limited to the internal 97th Girl Guides but similarly for those families who urgently need support. Besides expressing our heartfelt gratitude to our guides and fellow teammates at the lucky-draw and Secret Santa session\, we also took this opportunity to spread our joy of  Christmas with the needy. As a support to the Green-Christmas campaign\, we filled the gift boxes with second-hand books\, toys\, stationeries and accessories which were no longer useful to us but still clean and of high-quality\, together with unique Christmas cards designed by ourselves. The meaningful drawings conveyed our wish of adding coziness and laughter to the Christmas of the underprivileged in our society\, and our wish materialized in the end. From their satisfied\, sweet smiles and merrily sparkled eyes with joyous excitement in the photos\, I can see that they loved our special Christmas gifts wholeheartedly\, not only about their value but also our invaluable cozy blessings together with the message that they’re cared and valued. When I was looking at the lovely photos\, I felt a shiver down my spine\, gratified by their happiness. From the pleasure it gave me\, I feel responsible for sharing what I boast with more people who are not so fortunate as me\, which is included in the “Services” column of the Four Sign Post and Eight Point Programme of Girl Guides. The invaluable gratification and the fruitful experience of being a Secret Santa of others demonstrated that lending helping hands is in our favour. All of the members in the 97th Girl Guides are eagerly awaiting our next service in the near future! \nWe believe that coming together is the beginning\, keeping together is progress\, and working together is the key  to success.

SUMMARY:Girl Guides - Knot Tying Activity
DESCRIPTION:2C30 Tsang Lok Yiu \nReflection on Girl Guides Knot Tying Activity \nAt one of our gatherings this year\, we had a knot-related activity. The task of that day was to learn some basic knotting skills and set up a tent belonging to our group. On that day\, our group encountered a coordination problem: we didn’t prepare the materials to decorate the tent in advance. Seeing that other groups were so prepared\, we were very desperate and worried. On the one hand\, we were afraid of making a fool of ourselves. On the other hand\, we did not complete the teacher’s arrangement. Under that condition\, we only had limited time and resources to make use of\, we found some Christmas decorations in the leader’s classroom\, and we had an idea to design our tent with Christmas as the theme. During the process\, we collaborated seamlessly with giggles and grace. Eventually\, we completed our tent\, and it gave us a great sense of accomplishment and enjoyment. In this event\, not only did I learn some knotting skills\, but I also utilized them to build tents. Most importantly\, although our design was not the best\, through this event\, I felt that our group mates have a better understanding of each other. The strangeness and awkwardness at the beginning had gradually turned into harmony and unity among our group. Although we encountered different problems in the process\, we dealt with  them positively and optimistically\, making this event an unforgettable and meaningful experience.

SUMMARY:Best Decoration Award of ECA Boards
DESCRIPTION:This year\, all ECA groups have put a lot of effort into decorating the ECA board.  Greatly impressed by students’ fantastic artwork\, the judges panel consisting of Ms. Kwong Man Wai\, Ms. Ivy Tse and Ms. Chantelle Ng commented that some of the three-dimensional and interactive designs are amazingly eye-catching. Also\, all ECA posters effectively communicate their groups’ identities and characteristics in their own distinctive ways.  \nAfter careful deliberation\, the judges decided that the 2nd runner-up goes to Art Society. We have two 1st runners-up this year. They are History Society and Red Cross. The champion goes to Science Society. Congratulations!

SUMMARY:Evangelical Fortnight 2021: T-SeeKing Journey
DESCRIPTION:From 12 to 23 November 2021\, students from all forms experienced a life-changing journey on seeking the true living God and discovered themselves as the treasure of God.  A series of creative and fun activities were held through the week including lunchtime movie screening\, board game zone\, chit-chat & prayer corner\, book exhibition\, fellowship free trial and testimonial sharing by Christian students during Morning Prayer.  Students had a great time with their Christian fellow schoolmates and volunteers from various churches.  \nThe climax of the Evangelical Fortnight was indeed the live band concert and the interactive booth experience on the last day.  Our partnering organization\, U-fire Networks\, had brought along heart-touching music\, team-building games\, elements of art therapy and dance\, and most importantly\, small-group prayer service\, to let students encounter God through interaction with Jesus’ followers.   \nPraise the Lord that over 60 students have received Christ or returned to God throughout the campaign.  Almost 30 students joined the Student Christian Fellowship or lunchtime cell groups to know more about God.  Let’s pray to the Lord to send more shepherds to take care of His sheep. \n“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them\, and they follow me… No one can snatch them away from me.” (John 10:27-28b) \nSorry\, your browser doesn't support embedded videos.

SUMMARY:Student Leaders Inauguration Ceremony 2021-2022
DESCRIPTION:The Inauguration Ceremony of the 74th Student Union\, the Student Fellowship and the Prefect Team held on 6 October was a momentous day for every student. We are truly grateful to our predecessors for their quality service over the last school year. After Principal Hui had lit up the candles of the new leaders\, they passed the light along one by one. As future light-bearers\, the new leaders pledged their loyalty to serve wholeheartedly and fulfil our school mission – “Thou Art the Light of the World”. \nMay we wish them every success with their pursuits in the year ahead!

SUMMARY:True Light 150th Anniversary Life Planning Sharing Day on October 23
DESCRIPTION:In order to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of True Light and to provide our students with an invaluable opportunity to interact with and learn from the alumnae of the four True Light schools who are leaders and experts in their respective fields and disciplines\, our S5 students\, together with the other S5 students from Hong Kong True Light College\, Kowloon True Light School and True Light Girls’ College\, attended the Sharing Day from 0900 to 1200 on October 23\, 2021 (Saturday) at TLMSHK. \nDuring the sharing sessions run by the 25 TL alumnae\, not only did our participants get to know more about the actual work environment as well as the specific skills\, knowledge and qualifications required\, but they also came to realise and understand the importance of work ethics and their social responsibility. Many were also inspired to (re-)consider careers that would closely match their skills\, interest\, and work values. \nBelow are some reflections from our students: \n“I definitely enjoyed the Day. Kickstarting the parallel session with an interactive discussion\, Carmen (the guest speaker) immediately unraveled some startling facts about the finance industry\, and everyone was mesmerized by her stories on how she rolled with punches amidst failures and setbacks. She as well selflessly poured out several down-to-earth techniques that paved the way to her success and emphasized the power of being inquisitive and flexible in the workplace. Alongside the advice\, a myriad of forward-thinking ideas\, such as work-life integration\, also inspired me and this was undoubtedly an invaluable experience to get a taster of the business world.” – S5D Patsy Wong \n“It’s interesting to realise that a career in human resources is not only about hiring people but also about holding activities for the benefits of all staff in a company. I truly appreciate our alumnus who spreads her passion by starting an organization to provide counselling services to those in need in the community. She stressed\, “Attitude is always more important than ability”. I hope my future career will always be what I am enthusiastic about\, and I can strive to help people around me with the mission of being “the Light of the World”\, just like what our alumnus has been doing!” – S5C Wong Huen Man \n“The guest speaker shared her job as an air traffic controller. It was eye-opening as I knew very little about the aviation industry. However\, what inspired me the most is that not only is she now an air traffic controller\, but she is also a startup entrepreneur. It’s true that her life has been very busy\, and she has a lot on her plate; however\, she told us that she enjoys it as it’s never exhausting when one is doing what he/she loves. It’s really cool\, and this has also motivated me to find my own passion and hopefully\, turn it into my future career.” – S5D Siu Ho Yuet
